The Corgi and the Queen

A wonderful, heartwarming story about Queen Elizabeth and her best friend, Susan the Corgi. The Corgi and the Queen is a book that will make anyone’s heart melt, especially with the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth. The story starts off with Elizabeth’s childhood at Buckingham Palace with her mother, father, sister Margaret, and the family dogs, Dookie and Jane. When Elizabeth turns eighteen, she is asked what she would like for her birthday. Margaret says to ask for a car. Her mother says a nice piece of jewelry would be appropriate. But Elizabeth really wants a puppy to call her own. She is given the cutest corgi pup, whom she names Susan. Susan goes everywhere with Elizabeth, and even Philip, Elizabeth’s husband-to-be, must be approved by Susan.

The Corgi and the Queen is beautifully written and illustrated. The dogs were so cute and happy. I loved how the author included both Queen Elizabeth’s family tree and Susan’s family tree at the end of the book. This was such a special touch. This book will surely become a family favorite and will make children from all over the world smile. A gorgeous homage to the late Queen.
